A little bit about Me....

Hi! Thanks for visiting my homepage.  Hope you enjoy it!

I graduated from Slidell High School in May 1983.  I got an Honors Bachelor of Science in Civil Enginering from the University of Southwestern Louisiana   in May 1988.  The same day, I was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in the US Air Force as a Bioenvironmental Engineer.

My first assignment was Cannon Air Force Base, NM, home of the  F-111 'Aardvark.'  Here are a couple of other links to some cool pictures of the 'Vark - 1)  Here's a 'Vark from the 48th Fighter Wing at the 'Heath in England - the only wing with two official names, the second one being the Liberty Wing; 2)   Here's another 'Vark from Lakenheath, this one from the 494th Fighter Squadron - the mighty Panthers!

After two years at Cannon AFB, I moved overseas to RAF Lakenheath in England.  What a great assignment!  I spent four terrific years there and got tons of travel in  before coming back to the states to Brooks AFB in San Antonio.  My last three years were spent doing environmental remediation project management and a lot of traveling.

I separated from the Air Force in Aug 1997, and began a masters program at the University of Texas   that same month.  I am working towards a Masters in Environmental and Water Resources Engineering in the Civil Engineering department.

Well, I did graduate on time - 22 May 1999!  What a great feeling!  I've decided to stay in Austin and have accepted a position with Camp, Dresser, & McKee Inc (CDM), an engineering consulting firm, as an environmental engineer.  I'll start on the first of July.

Class Projects

Here is a report I did for my Water Resources Planning and Management Class in Fall 97.

Here is the proposal for my GIS in Water Resources Term Project for Spring 98 - the project revolves around modeling the hydrology of the Tillamook Bay watershed.

Research Work
I'm working as a graduate research assistant with Dr. David Maidment.  My research revolves around the Tillamook Bay National Estuary Project .  Check out their homepage.  I will be working on using a Geographic Information System to create a water quality model of the bay system.

You can check out my work on my progress and activities page.

Here is an exercise that I wrote for the TBNEP office to explain the model framework that I am developing.  Please note that this originally was put on a zip disk to be sent to the end users' office.  Therefore, all of the gis files were on the zip disk.  If you really want to work through this exercise, please email me and I can see what can be done to get you the gis files.

Click here for a presentation on the overall research project for Tillamook Bay.  Click here for the powerpoint version of the presentation.

Here is the second version of the TBNEP exercise.  This version was created for the Fall 1998 GIS in Water Resources Class.

Here is the latest (3rd) version of the TBNEP exercise/tutorial.  This version was presented to the TBNEP and associated personnel during a visit in February 1999.
In addition, you can download a brief user's guide for the project file.
If you would like to get the ArcView project files, please send me an email.
Finally......the moment you've all been waiting for!!!!!  The thesis is done!!!!  You can download the Adobe Acrobat version (pdf format) by clicking here.

Here are some links to other neat pages that I have a connection with:

  My brother Chris' Homepage

The Robbster's Homepage - he's my baby brother and his sarcasm will make you laugh!

My mom has even gotten into the technology age - she has a webpage for her business which revolves around holistic healing

Slidell High School - my alma mater, not to be confused with Rydell High School of "Grease" fame
Here's to the Class of 83, the best there'll ever be!

Fun Photos.....

Okay - I finally figured out how to scan pictures in.  So here are a couple of pictures of me and my buds from grad school:

- Me and Caroline at the Old Settler's Fest bluegrass jazz festival

- Me, Andrew, and Jeff at Shay's sister's lacrosse game

- Here's me and Dustin at the Hula Hut

- It's the birthday trio!

- CMoore and Chad ham it up for the camera

- Caroline, Shay, and me at Lilith Fair

- Here is my dad enjoying one of his favorite pasttimes; his other is making sawdust in his wood-working shop!

- Check out the Halloween get-ups my friends and I came up with.  Caroline is the flapper in the red dress, Jeff came as a zombie (yes, he did his costume entirely on  his own), Andrew is the jester (didn't I do a wonderful job with his face paint!), I'm the fighter pilot (as if you couldn't guess), and Matt decided to go as Gilligan going on his 3 hour tour.

- Here is Ann, being a true tree hugger, from my trip to Portland this summer.

- This one will make you smile....  I won't say when this was or which one is me.  See if you can figure it out!
