Underwater Admiralty Services, Inc

I'm on the board of advisors for this non-profit (501c3) corporation whose mission is to promote the exploration, identification, documentation and recovery of submerged cultural resources. UAS provides services, professional expertise and guidance to promote, preserve, present and protect our marine environment with special emphasis on submerged cultural resources and maritime heritage. The organization's goal is to involve student of all levels, from grade school to graduate level, in projects that will provide introductions and technical education in undersea technologies. < http://www.uasi.org/ >

Everyone should have a cannon (or a friend with one!)

A friend of mine has a full-scale replica of the 3 pound cannons manufactured by Verbruggen and used by both sides during the American Revolution. The barrel has been mounted on a marine carriage typical of that used by privateers and small vessels during the late 1700's. Firing it is a hoot!
