A degree from Civil, Architectural and Environmental Engineering (CAEE) offers a broad spectrum of employment opportunities, in both the public and the private sectors, within the United States and abroad. These opportunities exist in both technical and management positions, within organizations of varying sizes, which deal with a dizzying array of issues associated with both engineered and natural systems. Many of the most-critical problems facing our country and the globe are related to deteriorating infrastructure, the need for new kinds of infrastructure, and the need to build sustainable structures and systems. So, civil, architectural, and environmental engineers have the opportunity to make more of a difference in the world than ever before.
We invite you to join over 1,200 students who make CAEE their home department each academic year. In the Fall of 2011, 785 undergraduates enrolled with us, 559 in civil engineering and 226 in architectural engineering. This same semester 430 graduate students enrolled in CAEE, with 246 pursuing M.S. degrees and 194 pursuing Ph.D. degrees. (You can meet some of our students through our Student Profiles.) You obviously will not be alone in pursuing your degree, and you will work with nationally and internationally recognized faculty and excellent administrative and technical support staff.
