Since 2009, researchers from the Center for Research in Water Resources (CRWR) at The University of Texas at Austin have been engaged in a program of developing water management tools for use in the Rio Santa basin of Peru.  This research has been funded by the US Agency for Internaitonal Development (USAID), the Fulbright Program and greatly facillitated by The Mountain Institute.
