Hydrodynamic Modeling of Corpus Christi Bay

by Ferdi Hellweger

Introduction
My term project will involve the development of a hydrodynamic model for the Corpus Christi Bay estuarine system. I will use the Surface-Water Modeling System (SMS) developed by BYU to model flows in the bay. This work will tie in with other research conducted for the Corpus Christi Bay National Estuary Program.

Objectives

Information Sources
The primary source of information will be bathymetry data of the bay. This includes elevations of the bay floor and dimensions of openings to other bays or the gulf. I will also use measured flow values and other studies to check the results of my model.

Expected Results
I expect to produce a vector field of mean flows in the bay. That vector field will be checked against other estimates and measure values.
