Problem: Several students have reported problems with running ArcView 2.1 on the Pentium computers in the Learning Resources Center (LRC). The computers seem to lock/freeze up when doing certain operations. Adding a Chart to a Layout causes a problem frequently. After discussion with the LRC staff it appears that the video driver for the pentiums can not always handle what ArcView 2.1 puts out. This is a problem that is not likely to be corrected this semester, so we will need to live with it.

Solution: Reboot the computer and chose the VGA display from the startup menu. This will give you a 'not-so-pretty' screen display, but ArcView will not crash.
