1972 Guadalupe River Flood Analysis

by Wayne Tschirhart

Objectives: To examine the impacts and characteristics of the 1972 Guadalupe River Flood.

Information Sources: Hydrosphere data CD-ROM, Guadalupe-Blanco River Authority interviews and data, and New Braunfels Utilities interviews and data.

Expected Results: I expect to find the extent of flood damage in populated areas along the river, calculate the hydrograph for the river to determine peak flow and stage from data that would have from rain gauges, compare the hydrograph from the rain data to the hydrograph from measurements of stage height and examine the relationship between flow and stage for a section of the Guadalupe River.
