I am an Associate Professor at the Department of Civil Engineering of the University of Brasília / Brasil. I obtained a Master degree at COPPE (Coordenação dos Programas de Pós-graduação em Engenharia) of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro / Brasil, and my Doctoral degree at the Division of Graduate Studies of the School of Engineering of the National Autonomous University of Mexico.

I am sponsored by the University of Brasília and by CAPES (Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento do Pessoal de Nível Superior) for a one year sabbatical stage (May/97 to Apr/98).

At the CRWR / UT I am working with Dr. David R. Maidment and joined his research team, whose main objective is to integrate Water Resources Modeling and Geographic Information Systems.

My sabbatical stage began with a review of a set of GIS exercises developed for the GISHydro'97 CD-ROM. I have also been working in a project for the Corpus Christi Bay National Estuary Program, where the pollution generated by non-point sources is accounted by an integrated approach of hydrologic modeling and GIS, and the impact of this pollution on the receiving waters by the model BALANCE.

I had also translated into portuguese the exercises prepared for the FAO/UNESCO Water Balance of Africa and based on them I am preparing a set of GIS exercises in a brazilian watershed.
