This web site is an attempt to trace the academic lineage of my doctoral dissertation supervisor, Professor Robert L. Street of Stanford University.
We can trace a solid lineage of Ph.D. and Filosofie Magister supervision to Prof. Samuel Klingenstierna at the University of Uppsala, Sweden, in the 1730s (follow the R.L. Street link). Beyond Klingenstierna requires us to wave our hands a bit about who "influenced" whom, which gets a bit muddy. Going back further in time remains a work in progress.
I am relying heavily on the Mathematics Genealogy Project, which I've also contributed to as I've found new links and filled in some of the blank spaces. However, I've found that much of what is asserted in academic genealogies lacks sources, so I've tried to confirm as much as I can, and include disclaimers for links that are perhaps wishful thinking.
This remains a work in progress. I hope to eventually put up more detailed pages with links to some of the other information I've found. But that will have to wait until I find more time.
