
Daene McKinney, professor in Environmental and Water Resources Engineering, received two awards for papers that were published in the ASCE Journal of Water Resources Planning and Management. The awards were presented at the Environmental and Water Resources Institute Congress this May in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
McKinney received the 2012 Best Policy-Oriented Paper Award for "Groundwater Banking in the Rio Grande Basin", co-authored with his students Samuel Sandoval-Solis, Rebecca Teasley, and Carlos Patino-Gomez. It was published in Vol. 137, No. 1, pp.62-71, in 2011.
He also received the 2012 Quentin Martin Best Practice-Oriented Paper Award for "Sustainability Index for Water Resources Planning and Management" (Vol. 137, No. 5, pp. 381-390, 2011), co-authored with Samuel Sandoval-Solis, and Daniel Peter Loucks.
