Eight alumni from the Department of Civil, Architectural & Environmental Engineering at The University of Texas at Austin will be inducted into the Academy of Distinguished Alumni this October. The inductees are Ahmad Abdelrazaq, Zuheir Alami, Craig H. Benson, James A. Broaddus, W. Walter Chiang, William M. Isenhower, H. Thomas Kornegay and Edgar V. Leyendecker. Joseph A. Yura, emeritus professor, will also be inducted as an honorary member – although he did not attend UT-Austin, his outstanding service to the department as a faculty member will be recognized.
Each of the new inductees received at least one degree from the department and are outstanding in their field, leaders in the community, and have made outstanding contributions to the department. They also serve as excellent role models for students and their careers illustrate the great things that are being accomplished by our alumni around the world.
The Academy of Distinguished Alumni currently has 64 members – a significant honor considering the department has over 10,000 living alumni.
The new distinguished alumni will be inducted into the Academy at the department’s annual alumni banquet on October 9, 2009. To read about current members, please visit the Academy web page.
