Paul Marinos is a professor of engineering geology in the School of Civil Engineering at the National Technical University of Athens, Greece. He has served as head of the school's geotechnical group for several years.
He conducts research and consults worldwide on a variety of applications of geology to engineering, mainly rock mass characterization and weak rock properties and behavior, with special emphasis on tunnel design.
Dr. Marinos is the recipient of the 2010 Jahns Lectureship, which will take him across the US in early 2010. His presentation will explore the “Ongoing Challenges in Engineering Geology for Tunnelling in Difficult Ground”.
